My sister and I are eighteen months apart in age with me being the older of the two. We have some physical similarities which would make us easy to identify as sisters but our personalities are pretty different. My sister seems to be in a hurry to accomplish everything as fast as possible while I prefer a slower pace. She is in an advanced pace program to get her RN degree, and is currently on her second child. I am going beyond the traditional four years to finish my degree and am no where close to starting a family. As children we shared most of the same interests--riding bikes, playing together with barbies, etc. I always enjoyed reading while my sister didn’t. I’m not really sure what she did when I was reading. How we came to such differing personalities is most likely contributed to the friends we made in middle school. I made friends that were more similar to me and my interests while my sister went the opposite way and made friends that were more outgoing and rebellious. Ever since we sort of split off at middle school I’ve remained the more even-tempered one while my sister has a temper that rises and falls quickly.

I thought it was interesting that you said you were always more laid back than your sister, and from an early age you were the reader and she was not. Perhaps this reading calmed your day to day anxiety and eventually created a more relaxed temperment. Then again, maybe differences in your genes can account for this, but most likely it was a mixture of your genes and enviorment.
It must of been fun when you were little to have a sister so close to your age. I am the only girl and I wish I had a sister. I think its weird how you can be interested in the same things and then all the sudden people just split and are completly different.
I agree. I have one brother and 14 aunts and uncles, and out of that I only have 3 girl cousins. My family is full of boys! You are very very lucky to have a sister so close to your age even if you guys are alot different or in different places in your life!
I think its kind of intersting that you and your sister went seperate ways in middle school. I was an only girl with brothers and always wished i had a sister because my brothers (2 years apart) always ran together with the same group of friends and I was kind of left alone.
I find it very interesting cause that sounds just like my sister and I. We some what look alike but our personalities are very different. We started out not liking the same things but now we are interested in the same things like shopping and much more.
Having a twin brother myself I fully understand the whole concept of that time when a "split" occurs. Somewhere around the age 9-10 we just started doing different things. I discovered books, he discovered getting into trouble but a lot of that can be attributed to his epilepsy.
