Research Project

My Project would observe the correlation between people who own pets and living happier lives. I hypothesize that there will be a strong positive correlation between people owning pets and living happier than people who live without pets. This type of research would be conducted using a Longitudinal Study because I would have to follow two groups of individuals for the greater period of their lives. There would be two groups of twenty people per group. Choosing people who are impartial to whether or not they go through life with or without a pet would cover the study group aspect of the project and I would contact each individual of each group every six months for the first 2 years and then annually for the remaining years of the study. Providing each of the members of one group with a pet and the other members of the second group with no pet would be the Independent Variable. If and/or when their pet died as part of the study I would provide them with a new pet until the study was completed. The Dependent Variable would be the results found at the conclusion of the project most likely at age 55 or 60.
