my experiment

I would like to conduct a study on children and media violence. My hypothsis would be that children are not directly influenced by violence in the media, but the way that they parents raise their children. This is a very controversial subject right now in our society. I believe that it is not the media who influences the children but its how the parents relay the message to the children. The parents should clearly inform their children the difference between acceptable behavior and and unexceptable behavior. I would use media violence as the independant veriable. and parental control as the dependant veriable. I would use surveys for the parents and a longitudinal study for the children.

This sounds really interesting. I agree that parents need to teach their children what is acceptable behavior and what is not. Is there something more than surveys you could use with the parents? Parents aren't always as honest as children.
