assignment 1
I have noticed that ADHD seems to be overdiagnosed recently. I have also noticed that many children that are diagnosed with ADHD have chaotic and disrupted home lives. I think that it would be interesting to do a study on children diagnosed with ADHD. They would be within the same age ranges and the study would be conducted by surveying several children diagnosed with ADHD to determine the number of children diagnosed with ADHD that have had rough childhoods. The numbers of ADHD children with stable home lives and those with chaotic home lives would be totaled and the numbers would be compared to determine in which group the majority falls in. My hypothesis is that a large number of the ADHD kids would fall into the category of disrupted home lives.

I really think you may be on to something here. however, to put my own twist on it, I think there may be another factor other than ruff home lives, I think simply misinformed and overwhelmed parents may resort in saying thier child has ADHD and going from Dr. to Dr. until they get the diagnosis they want.
Hey, I know that I am putting this as a reply but I cannot figure out how to do it, anyways, this is my main post. the experiment that I would do would compair how students preform on a standard multipal choice test that is typcial of its kind in the psy. dept. compaired to a "friendly" multipal choice test that says "Hi, my name is _______" and has questions that although silly, one has to have psychological insight to be able to answer correctly. Both tests would be asking the same questions just a little differently. In this experiment, the IV is the "friendly" test, the DV is the students scores after taking the test, and the control group recieves the typical test. If the experimental group has scores higher than the control group the data suggests that the friendly test is positively correalated with higher test scores. I would use cross sectional research for this experiment using both freshmen and seniors. My hypothesis is that no statistically significant difference would arise between the two groups scores.
Your study would be interesting to see the outcomes on. I also agree with Micahs assessment about parents seeking the diagnoses. Another thing you need to consider is the effect ADHD has on the homelife.Does it indeed help to create the chaotic homelife.
